Like the great Ozone hole was going to destroy us all, Y2K that was going to have o microwave ovens attacking babies in cribs and the ever great population bomb, Global Warming (ahem..climate change..sorry) appears to going the way of all the other chicken little theory’s so worshipped by the greens and the left in their ever diminishing circle dance in search of relevance.

There has been many a golden (carbon free) chuckle at the shenanigans of the left/green ribid coalition as progressively more people have dared to commit heresy by questioning the Religion of Climate Change and its poverty inducing dogma. The sheer effort and blind faith they put into their topsy turvy computer models and demand we beggar ourselves at the alter of cap n trade is even more amusing when someone happens to mention “aren’t you the same guys who have hurled abuse at the conservatives for putting so much trust in computers, predictive models and risk analysis that brought us the Global Credit Crisis. By the way...that’s a crap theory as well but another post..look for Oigalnomics 101 coming soon.

British newspaper The Observer this month published prominently a story with a photograph of breaks in the Wilkins shelf.
"A huge ice shelf in the Antarctic is in the last stages of collapse and could break up within days in the latest sign of how global warming is thought to be changing the face of the planet," the story began.

Of course what they failed to mention was the following :

“In March last year, US news agency msn published the same photograph with a similar story that began: "A vast ice shelf hanging on by a thin strip looks to be the next chunk to break off from the Antarctic Peninsula, the latest sign of global warming's impact on Earth's southernmost continent." The photograph was published by numerous other outlets, including The Australian.

A spokeswoman for the British Antarctic Survey said the photograph in both stories was taken in March last year.”
Now it may be just plain British Unionised Laziness but the Stump seems to think that if things were as dire as the Rancid Greens (remember Al Gore’s ten year disaster time frame..tick ..tick ..tick) then surely there would be a veritable mountain of iceberg calving pictures to use rather than run one 13 months old (and neglect to mention the actual ice coverage has increased to levels not seen since the 50s.

Unfortunately for many in Australia, those poor souls in places like the hunter valley and the various manufacturing industries have had their generations of donkey voting for the Australian Labor Party rewarded with mass unemployment and finding “cold” comfort in the “ hollow but soothing promises that decarbonising the economies of the developed world can be achieved without pain, and even with gain of green jobs”

To give credit where credit is due, the Australian Prime Minister is certainly does not lack confidence in his ability. Although the rest of us would call his over confidence in his limited abilities, unmitigated Hubris from a bad tempered, little control freak.

The latest utterance from Tin Tin is that Australia’s latest weapon against the Global Credit Crisis is Australia is to spend 47 Billion (that’s right Billion) dollars on a project to surpass the iconic nation building Snowy River Mountain Scheme.

This amazing project is?..... A 47 Billion dollar project to allow blindingly fast (although even IF completed still slower than Japan, Singapore and Korea) broad band access to every man, woman and child in Australia.

Is there any limit to the spendthrift stupidity of the Australian Labor Government? Are they really suggesting that being able to download porn 10 times quicker is really an economic driver to the magnitude of the Snowy River Scheme? For those who may harbour such thoughts, let us refer you to moribund economies of countries (again) such as Korea, Japan and Singapore who despite having broadband to burn are literally in economic melt down.

Ok, anyone with an ounce a practical business experience (excluding the owners of www.hootersareus and computer geeks) will tell you that IT is not a economic driver, it is a cost. Once you get beyond the fairly simplistic, "hey let’s send an email", 95% of the rest of the IT community is all froth and bubble.

Who can honestly say that since the advent of the IT monsters and daily increases in broad band speed has anyone seen a real, practical and measurable increase in company productivity (aka wealth). Does anyone really think the answer to world’s problems is more IT??? More Bandwidth??

ANZAC DAY

I saw a kid marchin’ with medals on his chest.
He marched alongside Diggers marching six abreast.
He knew that it was ANZAC Day - he walked along with pride.

And when the march was over the kid was rather tired.

A Digger said “Whose medals, son?” to which the kid replied:

He died up in New Guinea on a lonely jungle track”.
The kid looked rather sad then and a tear came to his eye.

Your daddy marched with us today - all the blooming way.
We Diggers know that he was there - it’s like that on ANZAC Day”.
The kid looked rather puzzled and didn’t understand,

But the Digger went on talking and started to wave his hand.
“For this great land we live in, there’s a price we have to pay
For we all love fun and merriment in this country where we live.

What complete lack of intelligence would lead anyone to allow Iran and in particular the tiny tyrant tick to be a keynote speaker on the topic that goes to the very heart of human rights.

Iran's Joke President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad used his keynote speech at the UN anti-racism summit in Geneva to launch yet another inane and factually incorrect (Did the Stump say factually incorrect, the troll would not recognise a fact if one snuck up behind him and bent him over like a goat at a Iranian Bachelor Party) ranting tirade against all things Western and Israel in particular.

Although the Stump has to admit that President Obamamania is growing on us (if only to watch the left squirm as their great black messiah turns out to have feet of republician), The Stump still thinks the best idea to come out of the Amercian Presidential Debates was that all reasonable nations and democracies should walk out of the United Nations and create a "League of Democracies"

It would be amusing to watch the troll and his ilk spreeing forth their bile upon themselves for a change in the decaying, bankrupt pile of hatred the UN has become in pandering to pissant petty tyrants. Meanwhile the saner nations of the world could get on with making life better for the rest of us. Far to much time and tolerance is spent on people (?) who wish the rest of us nothing but ill will.

CLIMATE CHANGE AGAIN!

The Stump is an environmentalist and believes one of the great tragedies of is the criminal short term, opportunistic and criminal (morally and legally) exploitation of Indonesia’s forests and resources to the benefit of the very few.

However, the “Rabid Green” movement often has as much to answer for as do the stereotypical, greedy and malevolent “businessman”. Deliberation and wilful distortion of facts by the rancid greens for their 15 minutes of personal “I TOLD YOU SO” fame all too often distorts real efforts to manage our environment and the discredits the environmental effort as a whole.

Some immoral classics of the Feral Greens include:

The self important “NGO” movement more worried about it’s own exposure deliberately targeted a large miner (NEWMONT) in Indonesia with a litany of poorly research facts and figures ultimately proven false by any number of scientific tests. Unfortunately not before ruining the lives of thousands and completely ignoring the destruction and health risks created by a raft of illegal mining operations in the area. On why such a stand was taken, at best analysis the Stump believes it can be attributed to sheer arrogance and stupidity only because a more jaundice view would lead to far more sinister conclusions.

A recent panel of “Green” climate change scientists (???) from China recently accused Australia of environmental mismanagement and as a major contributor to the Climate Change. The image of China accusing anyone of acting irresponsibly in the world is a joke beyond compare yet we had the idiot green movement in Australia applauding these self righteous government cogs. How about China concentrates on little things like human rights in Tibet, Three Rivers Dam and make the air breathable in at least one city and then get back to the rest of us on how to look after the environment.

The recent attack on us “meat eaters” of the world with a early runner for the prize of the silly statement of the year “It takes 50,000L of water to produce one kilo of steak”. As someone who spent a good part of his early life on a bush property, I can pretty well assure you that on the figure is beyond silly (You do the math, 5000 head @ 3000Kilo x 50,000). We were not raising cattle on the Sydney Harbour here.

Of course, the Australian Minister for Plastic Bags, ex-singer from an extremely average band, Peter Garrett can always be counted on for commenting beyond his intelligence (which to be fair is anything beyond “Hows the weather?) Predicted in the Australian Newspaper today that “sea level rises of up to 6m from Antarctic melting by 2100”

Of course sadly for Peter (and the rest of the rancid ferals) despite the howls and moans about Antarctic Ice melting, the truth is the opposite.

“Dr Allison said there was not any evidence of significant change in the mass of ice shelves in east Antarctica nor any indication that its ice cap was melting. "The only significant calvings in Antarctica have been in the west," he said. And he cautioned that calvings of the magnitude seen recently in west Antarctica might not be unusual.

"Ice shelves in general have episodic carvings and there can be large icebergs breaking off -- I'm talking 100km or 200km long -- every 10 or 20 or 50 years."
Ice core drilling in the fast ice off Australia's Davis Station in East Antarctica by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Centre shows that last year, the ice had a maximum thickness of 1.89m, its densest in 10 years. The average thickness of the ice at Davis since the 1950s is 1.67m.

A paper to be published soon by the British Antarctic Survey in the journal Geophysical Research Letters is expected to confirm that over the past 30 years, the area of sea ice around the continent has expanded”

East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week's meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown "significant cooling in recent decades".

Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica.


Now before the Rancids start their normal bleating each time one of their cherished bibliques creation myths is challenged. “Heathen.. You have forgotten about the Arctic ice”! Well even assuming their most idiotic claims of melt are true (Which is seriously debatable based on their previous history of lies and half truths), let’s try some perspective;

Antarctica has 90 per cent of the Earth's ice and 80 per cent of its fresh water. If Antarctica Ice is growing then that would mean percentage wise, worse case Arctic Melt has what percentage effect on the world????

Oh and as parting shots. How many years is it now since Al Gore’s little home movie? The home movie had water lapping at city libraries within ten years and pacific islands disappearing? Can anyone name any?

QANTAS - DOWN N OUT

The worst airline in South East Asia (bar none), the Mangy Roo is once again showing its sheer arrogance to the Australian Public it has systemically ripped off over the years.

The latest in the saga of this government protected dinosaur is the laying off hundreds of workers and off-shoring hundreds of other jobs whilst continuing to exist as a national joke at the travelling public's expense.

Now the Stump is a champion of free enterprise and the free market. However, the moment you stick your hand out for tax payer cash and exist in a protected market then you lose (or should) lose the right to out source Australian Jobs.

Nor should anyone feel sad for the mangy roo's woes! Travellers may recall how QANTAS ripped travellers off, year in year out with domestic travel until Virgin forced their way into the market. A story on it's own right is what what happens when socialist business models run amok and use the combined weight of government protection and shady airport access deals to ensure free enterprise start-ups fai.

Blaming the "crisis" for QANTAS's falling profitability is highest order fertilizer!

Perhaps the flowing rings a bell with travllers:

1. Using planes that the Wright brothers built.
2. Fares schedules that would make Ned Kelly blush.
3. Service that is more applicable in a Pysch Hospital than on a national airline (Sit down, shut up and maybe I will sling you some gruel).
4. A board of directors that has about as much knowledge about the airline industry as Kevin Rudd does to good governance.

Really sad to hear how your profits were down this quarter and you will have to lay off all of those workers and off shore other jobs. One would have though you had built a sizable reserve on your fuel levy you slugged every passenger well after the prices had come down anyway. Oh you will forgive us if we sound a little terse we still remember your $600 dollar return fares Melbourne to Adelaide (an hours flight..were you serious?). I guess that was needed to fund all those government lobbists and other hangers on, too bad we have banned them from the lodge.

Oh well, as you know we at the Stump are big believers in Free Markets so feel free to lay off and out source to your hearts content. If you could be so kind to forward the CV's of those workers to our Commonwealth Employment Agency (or whatever we call it this week) as I sure many positions will be opening up now that the "protected domestic and international routes are to opened to any airline who means our safety standards. We hope you do understand that you are literally on your own now. However, We are sure those countries you have outsourced the jobs to will be falling over themselves to take over the role of the australian taxpayer to prop you up over the coming years.

"A judge has refused to overturn a ruling that declared the arranged marriage of an eight-year-old girl to a 47-year-old man legal.

The Saudi Arabian judge, Sheikh Habib Habib, ruled that the girl's marriage to a friend of her father's was legal and binding.

CNN reported the child wife could file for divorce once she reached puberty.

A relative of the girl told CNN the judge first refused to annul the marriage last year but reconsidered the case upon the girl's mother's appeal.

The mother's lawyer argued the girl's father had arranged the marriage with his "close friend" to pay off a monetary debt.

The relative said the girl's mother, who is divorced from the father, would continue to seek to overturn the marriage.

Zuhair Harithi from the Saudi Human Rights Commission told CNN child marriages in the country must be fought, saying they "violate international agreements that have been signed by Saudi Arabia and should not be allowed."

The issue of child marriage has been a hot topic in Saudi Arabia of late.

Rights groups have been petitioning the government to enact laws that would protect children while the kingdom's top cleric has said that it is OK for girls as young as 10 to wed.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, the kingdom's grand mufti, said last January there is nothing wrong with girls who are 15 or younger being married.

"A girl aged 10 or 12 can be married," he told a local newspaper.

"Those who think she's too young are wrong and they are being unfair to her.

"We should know that Sharia law has not brought injustice to women."

An appeals court in Riyadh will reportedly consider the case again in a hearing next month."

SBY CLEANS UP

Well the first round of the Indonesian Elections are over and it appears the Democrat Party (Current President SBY’s party) has done exceptionally well. It fact the “Dems” are sitting at about 20% of the vote well ahead of the nearest rival Golkar (the party of Suharto) at 14%.

Interestingly, if the “Dems” can garner 25% of the vote then they would be able to nominate a Presidential Candidate in their own right. This may allow SBY to shake off a common image as a nice guy (albeit like many ex-generals with some dark skeletons in the closet yet to explained away) but a ditherer. Many think the “ditherer” tag was a little unfair as previously his low political support base despite a huge public support base meant he was hamstrung by the need to compromise with any number of lobbying factions to retain the presidency.
One outstanding ray of hope for Indonesia is if the “Dems” can gain over 25% of the vote then a interesting option would be for SBY to reject any attempts to place dubious dwarfs as his running mate for Presidency. One idea already being floated is

“reformist Finance Minster Sri Mulyani Indrawati as Mr Yudhoyono's deputy at the presidential polls.

Dr Mulyani, a brilliant technocrat, brings very little party machine or voter support of her own, but would massively buttress Mr Yudhoyono's continuing reform image”


The good doctor has shown significant courage in taking on the old and new elite and would certainly bring much need backbone to the presidential chair. Although making some classic blunders in her recent reforms and having an ego the size of the Monas statue, she certainly seems to have the country’s interests at heart which is a refreshing change from the majority of self seeking parasites in the DPR at the moment.
You can be sure that the “Mud Brothers” and the parasitical elite will be doing everything in their power to ensure such a union does not come to pass but if it does it may well herald a new beginning and brighter more mature future for Indonesia.
On another pleasing note and demonstration of the increasing maturity of the voting public, The combined vote for the Islamic Dominated parties was at an all time low as people realised that domination by external agencies and ideologies does not equate to a better life for their children.

KRUDD THE PISSANT

It is the opinion of the Stump that a mature democracy (as opposed to one that has billboards of candidates dressed in Green Lantern costumes) more often than not get government they deserve.
That being the case then Australia’s collective insanity in allowing the ear wax chewer Prime Minister Krudd has really bitten the pig.

The pretentious little twit was relegated to an also ran on his recent visit to the USA with the great black hope Obama spending as little time as possible with the Krudd from down under. Krudd the legend in his own lunchbox then found himself seated in Outer Barcoo next to Ethiopia at the G20 gabfest (Is there something slightly sickening about an a bunch international trough feeders suggesting that other people have too many peeks and bonuses?)....Mmmm What is the correct plural term for a group of politicians?... a mob..a murder..? a flock...The Stump is voting for a "CLUSTER" as in Cluster-F****

Meanwhile China must be rueing the day they chose him as their Manchurian Candidate with his absolute lack of influence on the international stage. (Had to love the recent interview in the USA where the Krudd mentioned China 20 times and Australia 6..mmmm)

Closer to home his demonstrated own personal cowardice in verbally abusing a female defence force steward and reduced her to tears after he didn’t get the meal he deserved (despite the airforce ringing his office three times to confirm the meals he wanted).

Of course, the Krudd lied and tried to deny the incident happened until the weight of witnesses overwhelmed him and his troop of kid minders. The only sad part is that the Captain of plane didn’t land at the nearest airport and put the petulant child off until it learned some basic manners.

Kevin Rudd's initial denial of a mid-air outburst towards a female RAAF cabin attendant, before his eventual admission that it happened, was further evidence the Prime Minister "only tells the truth when he is forced to".

The Prime Minister's office initially denied Mr Rudd had berated the attendant on a trip from Papua New Guinea to Canberra because his requested meal had been unavailable.

Asked yesterday about reports of the incident, Mr Rudd said he had "a discussion with I think one of the attendants about the provision of food" which "didn't last very long".
