Hotel Sahid Bans Aussies

An Oigal Note: I have edited this post because Mr Snag has pointed out that I may have been a bit harsh on the Manager of the Sahid hotel. Upon further reflection he is probably right. Unconfirmed reports indicate another group of Papuans are seeking Asylum in Australia tonight, so I don't intend to add to the insanity that may follow if I can help it.

It is reported that the Sahid Hotel in the capital of South Sulawesi "agreed in writing that we are prohibited from accepting Australian guests"

You getting better with your fake "expat" names "Hooligan" but not exactly raising the bar in comments.

That's how political myopia will destroy business and the economy. The leadership here seems very slow in bringing the situation back to normal; further delay would appear as weakness - ready to be exploited by trouble-makers.

I may have been a bit harsh on the manager but never the less it certainly does not help the business image of Indonesia abroad.

I did hear today (unconfirmed) that more papuans may have landed in oz. If thats the case then this is going to become a major pain in the arse for relations between both countries. Can only hope SBY and Johnny H sit down together and work something out and leave the idiots (from both sides) out of the meeting

Monsieur L'oigal

yes you were being a bit tough on the Sahid chain. The news story shows there was extortion by a mob of students. The written agreement made by the hotel is hardly worth anything as it was made under duress. Were you the one aussie that stayed there in the last 100 days of this year??

Mr Snag,

Agreed a bit harsh on the manager and have upon reflection edited the post. Although the point could be made that until people start standing up to the thugs, things are only going to get worse (but that is of course easy for me to say not being there).

As for only one aussie there in last 100 years...dubious claim at best..In short I have used the chain in the past.
