The Stump is an environmentalist and believes one of the great tragedies of is the criminal short term, opportunistic and criminal (morally and legally) exploitation of Indonesia’s forests and resources to the benefit of the very few.
However, the “Rabid Green” movement often has as much to answer for as do the stereotypical, greedy and malevolent “businessman”. Deliberation and wilful distortion of facts by the rancid greens for their 15 minutes of personal “I TOLD YOU SO” fame all too often distorts real efforts to manage our environment and the discredits the environmental effort as a whole.

The self important “NGO” movement more worried about it’s own exposure deliberately targeted a large miner (NEWMONT) in Indonesia with a litany of poorly research facts and figures ultimately proven false by any number of scientific tests. Unfortunately not before ruining the lives of thousands and completely ignoring the destruction and health risks created by a raft of illegal mining operations in the area. On why such a stand was taken, at best analysis the Stump believes it can be attributed to sheer arrogance and stupidity only because a more jaundice view would lead to far more sinister conclusions.
A recent panel of “Green” climate change scientists (???) from China recently accused Australia of environmental mismanagement and as a major contributor to the Climate Change. The image of China accusing anyone of acting irresponsibly in the world is a joke beyond compare yet we had the idiot green movement in Australia applauding these self righteous government cogs. How about China concentrates on little things like human rights in Tibet, Three Rivers Dam and make the air breathable in at least one city and then get back to the rest of us on how to look after the environment.
The recent attack on us “meat eaters” of the world with a early runner for the prize of the silly statement of the year “It takes 50,000L of water to produce one kilo of steak”. As someone who spent a good part of his early life on a bush property, I can pretty well assure you that on the figure is beyond silly (You do the math, 5000 head @ 3000Kilo x 50,000). We were not raising cattle on the Sydney Harbour here.
Of course, the Australian Minister for Plastic Bags, ex-singer from an extremely average band, Peter Garrett can always be counted on for commenting beyond his intelligence (which to be fair is anything beyond “Hows the weather?) Predicted in the Australian Newspaper today that “sea level rises of up to 6m from Antarctic melting by 2100”
Of course sadly for Peter (and the rest of the rancid ferals) despite the howls and moans about Antarctic Ice melting, the truth is the opposite.
“Dr Allison said there was not any evidence of significant change in the mass of ice shelves in east Antarctica nor any indication that its ice cap was melting. "The only significant calvings in Antarctica have been in the west," he said. And he cautioned that calvings of the magnitude seen recently in west Antarctica might not be unusual.
"Ice shelves in general have episodic carvings and there can be large icebergs breaking off -- I'm talking 100km or 200km long -- every 10 or 20 or 50 years."
Ice core drilling in the fast ice off Australia's Davis Station in East Antarctica by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Centre shows that last year, the ice had a maximum thickness of 1.89m, its densest in 10 years. The average thickness of the ice at Davis since the 1950s is 1.67m.
A paper to be published soon by the British Antarctic Survey in the journal Geophysical Research Letters is expected to confirm that over the past 30 years, the area of sea ice around the continent has expanded”
East Antarctica is four times the size of west Antarctica and parts of it are cooling. The Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research report prepared for last week's meeting of Antarctic Treaty nations in Washington noted the South Pole had shown "significant cooling in recent decades".
Australian Antarctic Division glaciology program head Ian Allison said sea ice losses in west Antarctica over the past 30 years had been more than offset by increases in the Ross Sea region, just one sector of east Antarctica.
Now before the Rancids start their normal bleating each time one of their cherished bibliques creation myths is challenged. “Heathen.. You have forgotten about the Arctic ice”! Antarctica has 90 per cent of the Earth's ice and 80 per cent of its fresh water. If Antarctica Ice is growing then that would mean percentage wise, worse case Arctic Melt has what percentage effect on the world????

QANTAS - DOWN N OUT
The worst airline in South East Asia (bar none), the Mangy Roo is once again showing its sheer arrogance to the Australian Public it has systemically ripped off over the years.
The latest in the saga of this government protected dinosaur is the laying off hundreds of workers and off-shoring hundreds of other jobs whilst continuing to exist as a national joke at the travelling public's expense.
Now the Stump is a champion of free enterprise and the free market. However, the moment you stick your hand out for tax payer cash and exist in a protected market then you lose (or should) lose the right to out source Australian Jobs.
Nor should anyone feel sad for the mangy roo's woes! Travellers may recall how QANTAS ripped travellers off, year in year out with domestic travel until Virgin forced their way into the market. A story on it's own right is what what happens when socialist business models run amok and use the combined weight of government protection and shady airport access deals to ensure free enterprise start-ups fai.
Blaming the "crisis" for QANTAS's falling profitability is highest order fertilizer!
Perhaps the flowing rings a bell with travllers:
1. Using planes that the Wright brothers built.
2. Fares schedules that would make Ned Kelly blush.
3. Service that is more applicable in a Pysch Hospital than on a national airline (Sit down, shut up and maybe I will sling you some gruel).
4. A board of directors that has about as much knowledge about the airline industry as Kevin Rudd does to good governance.

Really sad to hear how your profits were down this quarter and you will have to lay off all of those workers and off shore other jobs. One would have though you had built a sizable reserve on your fuel levy you slugged every passenger well after the prices had come down anyway. Oh you will forgive us if we sound a little terse we still remember your $600 dollar return fares Melbourne to Adelaide (an hours flight..were you serious?). I guess that was needed to fund all those government lobbists and other hangers on, too bad we have banned them from the lodge.
Oh well, as you know we at the Stump are big believers in Free Markets so feel free to lay off and out source to your hearts content. If you could be so kind to forward the CV's of those workers to our Commonwealth Employment Agency (or whatever we call it this week) as I sure many positions will be opening up now that the "protected domestic and international routes are to opened to any airline who means our safety standards. We hope you do understand that you are literally on your own now. However, We are sure those countries you have outsourced the jobs to will be falling over themselves to take over the role of the australian taxpayer to prop you up over the coming years.

RELIGIOUS PERVS
Whilst on the subject on cretins..It always amazes the Stump and stumpettes the hellfire rush that many have in Indonesia to dump hundreds of years of adat (traditions) and slavishly follow this dodgy mob below. If Indonesia is not embarrassed at accepting millions of dollars in "Religious and Education" (Mutually exclusive terms) from this mob then they should be..

CNN reported the child wife could file for divorce once she reached puberty.
A relative of the girl told CNN the judge first refused to annul the marriage last year but reconsidered the case upon the girl's mother's appeal.
The mother's lawyer argued the girl's father had arranged the marriage with his "close friend" to pay off a monetary debt.
The relative said the girl's mother, who is divorced from the father, would continue to seek to overturn the marriage.
Zuhair Harithi from the Saudi Human Rights Commission told CNN child marriages in the country must be fought, saying they "violate international agreements that have been signed by Saudi Arabia and should not be allowed."
The issue of child marriage has been a hot topic in Saudi Arabia of late.
Rights groups have been petitioning the government to enact laws that would protect children while the kingdom's top cleric has said that it is OK for girls as young as 10 to wed.
Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, the kingdom's grand mufti, said last January there is nothing wrong with girls who are 15 or younger being married.
"A girl aged 10 or 12 can be married," he told a local newspaper.
"Those who think she's too young are wrong and they are being unfair to her.
"We should know that Sharia law has not brought injustice to women."
An appeals court in Riyadh will reportedly consider the case again in a hearing next month."

SBY CLEANS UP
Well the first round of the Indonesian Elections are over and it appears the Democrat Party (Current President SBY’s party) has done exceptionally well. It fact the “Dems” are sitting at about 20% of the vote well ahead of the nearest rival Golkar (the party of Suharto) at 14%.
Interestingly, if the “Dems” can garner 25% of the vote then they would be able to nominate a Presidential Candidate in their own right. This may allow SBY to shake off a common image as a nice guy (albeit like many ex-generals with some dark skeletons in the closet yet to explained away) but a ditherer. Many think the “ditherer” tag was a little unfair as previously his low political support base despite a huge public support base meant he was hamstrung by the need to compromise with any number of lobbying factions to retain the presidency.
One outstanding ray of hope for Indonesia is if the “Dems” can gain over 25% of the vote then a interesting option would be for SBY to reject any attempts to place dubious dwarfs as his running mate for Presidency. One idea already being floated is
“reformist Finance Minster Sri Mulyani Indrawati as Mr Yudhoyono's deputy at the presidential polls.
Dr Mulyani, a brilliant technocrat, brings very little party machine or voter support of her own, but would massively buttress Mr Yudhoyono's continuing reform image”
The good doctor has shown significant courage in taking on the old and new elite and would certainly bring much need backbone to the presidential chair. Although making some classic blunders in her recent reforms and having an ego the size of the Monas statue, she certainly seems to have the country’s interests at heart which is a refreshing change from the majority of self seeking parasites in the DPR at the moment.
You can be sure that the “Mud Brothers” and the parasitical elite will be doing everything in their power to ensure such a union does not come to pass but if it does it may well herald a new beginning and brighter more mature future for Indonesia.
On another pleasing note and demonstration of the increasing maturity of the voting public, The combined vote for the Islamic Dominated parties was at an all time low as people realised that domination by external agencies and ideologies does not equate to a better life for their children.

KRUDD THE PISSANT
It is the opinion of the Stump that a mature democracy (as opposed to one that has billboards of candidates dressed in Green Lantern costumes) more often than not get government they deserve.
That being the case then Australia’s collective insanity in allowing the ear wax chewer Prime Minister Krudd has really bitten the pig.
The pretentious little twit was relegated to an also ran on his recent visit to the USA with the great black hope Obama spending as little time as possible with the Krudd from down under. Krudd the legend in his own lunchbox then found himself seated in Outer Barcoo next to Ethiopia at the G20 gabfest (Is there something slightly sickening about an a bunch international trough feeders suggesting that other people have too many peeks and bonuses?)....Mmmm What is the correct plural term for a group of politicians?... a mob..a murder..? a flock...The Stump is voting for a "CLUSTER" as in Cluster-F****
Meanwhile China must be rueing the day they chose him as their Manchurian Candidate with his absolute lack of influence on the international stage. (Had to love the recent interview in the USA where the Krudd mentioned China 20 times and Australia 6..mmmm)
Closer to home his demonstrated own personal cowardice in verbally abusing a female defence force steward and reduced her to tears after he didn’t get the meal he deserved (despite the airforce ringing his office three times to confirm the meals he wanted).
Of course, the Krudd lied and tried to deny the incident happened until the weight of witnesses overwhelmed him and his troop of kid minders. The only sad part is that the Captain of plane didn’t land at the nearest airport and put the petulant child off until it learned some basic manners.
The Stump can only say...What a pathetic little pissant! The Stump has no time for bullies and less for those pieces of scum who abuse women. "Why don't you try with someone who can hit back coward"!

Kevin Rudd's initial denial of a mid-air outburst towards a female RAAF cabin attendant, before his eventual admission that it happened, was further evidence the Prime Minister "only tells the truth when he is forced to".
The Prime Minister's office initially denied Mr Rudd had berated the attendant on a trip from Papua New Guinea to Canberra because his requested meal had been unavailable.
Asked yesterday about reports of the incident, Mr Rudd said he had "a discussion with I think one of the attendants about the provision of food" which "didn't last very long".

NO SHAME NO HONOUR
Some have accused the Indonesian Parasitical Political Class of not having gumption (or perhaps a genetic inability to feel shame). That would not be the Stump who thinks a democratic nation gets the political class it deserves (one of the downsides of democracy.
Never the less they make good stories, hot on the heels of the Indonesian Health Minsters “jaw dropping” child immunisation conspiracy theory, comes the latest in classic political behaviour at the expense of those who have lost everything as result of disaster when a dam wall collapsed in South West Jakarta. Those utlimately responsible for the welfare of the people bizarrely flocked to the site of their latest abject failure for photo opportunities. Srange creatures indeed!
Reportedly (and based on previous experience, probably accurate) no effective maintenance has been conducted on the dam since the days of the Dutch, yet one piece of government plankton had the nerve to refer to the incident as a “natural disaster”. Natural disaster my great aunts fat arse unless you mean it’s natural to ignore the safety of the people you are supposed to representing as you nose around the trough in search of yet another unearned dollar.
The sheer nerve of Indonesia’s political elite to turn up at the site of such misery and promise aid and assistance after years of neglect lead to this situation is astounding but unfortunately all too common. It is noted this occurred in the same area they had funds to hire people to conduct raids and arrest women deemed “unescorted” but apparently no funs to inspect dam walls?
Speaking a sheer effrontery, the world’s smallest Vice Prez managed to creep the stump out again. Ok..it’s probably just us here at the stump, but doesn’t he remind you of Chuckie the psycho doll, we have nightmares at the stump about peering under the bed one night and seeing a diminutive, bug eyed, little demonic VP Chuckie, stabbing a steak knife into floor screaming “short time marriages are good for tourism” and “democracy is just a means to an end”.
Sorry we digress. The Stumps recalls gulping (and then laughing) upon reading how a number of political parties were planning to use planes (hired using funds from where..don’t ask). In justification, they had the nerve to state the “ The road and rail infrastructure in many provinces is just too poor to be utilised” No Shit Sherlock..One wonders why!
The Stump can’t help but feel that if every elected and campaigning official was banned from using anything but public transport (and especially no charter planes or siren flashing police escorts) perhaps something might be done about the abysmal state of public transport in this country.

Ms Supari said she still would advocate immunisations against measles, polio, tetanus, hepatitis B and tuberculosis.
Her statement comes as Indonesia struggles to contain outbreaks of preventable childhood illnesses.
Cases of measles, tuberculosis and other diseases have skyrocketed.

Seeing how its election time..instead of shady no hopers who consider wearing a religious (and totally climate unsuitable head covering) consitutes Political Spin rather than simply sleazy, the Stump would like to introduce this piece of SPIN at its best
Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California, was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1885, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'
So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.
Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her genealogy research:
'Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business empire grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings with the railroad.
In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon which he was standing collapsed.'
NOW THAT's how it's done, Folks!

Sydney Airport Death
Flash News...
Mayhem erupted at Sydney Airport today resulting in one man's death after a crowd of people finally erupted into violence after been forced to take off their shoes and remove their laptops for the 117th time prior to entering the departure lounge. Doctors said it was only a matter of time before normally rational human beings reacted against this daily insult to their intelligence.
Airport Security Offical Rasamad Wherethehellisbondianyway said "To subject people to this level of insulting treatment day after day in the name of security whilst paying no attention to the very real security risk posed by unchecked multiculturalism was a recipe for disaster, but if you dumb ozzies are stupid enough to give security jobs to unqualified people more fool you"

Following the beating to death of a man in Sydney’s Domestic Airport in broad daylight, Premier Nathan Rees, the Premier of New South Wales and home of the most inept government in recent Australian History has brushed off concerns of lax security at Sydney Airport, 24 hours after a man was executed in one of the airport's public terminals.
Say What??????!!!
A man was beaten to death in broad daylight in the major domestic airport in the country and some moron states there is no security problem...The plankton feeders rule again!
Of course, the fact that the security guards at the airport disappeared during the trouble is no surprise. Earning minimum wage and with no training beyond harrassing travellers and tourist does not encourage a real interest in throwing your life on the line when a real security issue arises. The redneck in the Stump yard also questions how much loyalty do you show a country that has been your home for less than couple of years?

Well past the time Australia adopted the Singapore Model, fully armed professionals to provide security instead making peoples safety a part of the English as a second language employment scheme.
The Stump would like to make it clear that no blame should be attached to the “Security” Personnel not should any be inferred. The Stump would be buggered if he was going to front up to 15 (?) odd “men on a mission” for the princely price of the minimum wage rate with all the training of Woolworths bag checker.
What the issue highlights is the complete disaster that occurs when Government bean counters and other morons (Is that redundant terminology?) decide that replacing trained professionals with minimum wage “rent a cops” represents sound security policy.
One dreads to think what would happen if had been Indian Style Murderers instead of “thugs on a mission”
Premier Rees...Please return to planet Earth or return the taxpayer funded wage you are slushing around in.
On a different note...Which island nation has disappeared this week due to rising sea levels and gloabl warming? None...oh bugger me blue and call me Gore.
Mayhem erupted at Sydney Airport today resulting in one man's death after a crowd of people finally erupted into violence after been forced to take off their shoes and remove their laptops for the 117th time prior to entering the departure lounge. Doctors said it was only a matter of time before normally rational human beings reacted against this daily insult to their intelligence.

Of course, the fact that the security guards at the airport disappeared during the trouble is no surprise. VISUAL POLLUTION
Been a busy week at the Stump as we are lucky enough to control (like to say own but that’s a subjective point in Indonesia) a nice corner block. At last count 23 different political posters and banners have been consigned to the weekly bonfire (consider it our contribution to global warming).
Thinking of running a sweep on the time between removing the eyesore from private property until some ignorant flog bag decides to desecrate our private property again. Was a hoot yesterday, sat on the porch for two hours drinking a nice cold beer watching these industrious little beavers erect a huge monument to some potential thief’s ego. The look on their faces and howls of protest was music to our ears as the moment they finished we calmly walked down, picked up our prepositioned tools of destruction and produce another 30 minutes of fire food.
NB. The stump probably wouldn’t recommend this course of action unless you are sure about the strength in numbers . People do tend to get a little hot under the collar.
Meanwhile more pieces of filth have been charged in Kalimantan for corruption, in this case stealing millions from funds meant for the poor. Well seeing how Kalimantan (One of the richest, if not the richest province in Indonesia) had a number of children die of malnutrition and neglect over the last 12 months, the stump thinks if justice was fair these filth would be charged with murder not corruption
Speaking of Global Warming or is it Climate Change, the stump has been traveling a bit of late (hence the slackness in blog updates) and is please to report no missing Islands..mmm been six years now since big Al's told me the Maldives could disappear with a decade..should be good surfing over the next four years then.
Anyway the election is coming and don’t forget..

AMOROUS brush turkeys are raping chickens as their numbers rise in Brisbane and they look for a mate, a leading Queensland biologist says.
Griffith University Associate Prof Darryl Jones said the once-rare native brush turkey could go the way of the ibis and become a permanent fixture of the suburban environment.
But their increase in numbers might be bad news for other birds, Prof Jones, as they risked being attacked by the amorous turkeys.
"Bluntly, that's a form of rape," he said.
"Especially black chickens they seem to think 'oh well, these look close enough' and they'll mate with them."

Kiss HR’s (The school bully) girlfriend at the end of year school “social”;
Gate crash a party, start a fight with the mob, run to the car with your mate only to realise that you have left the car keys on the kitchen table.
Now we did those things but we knew they were dumb. Although we often did not anticipate how much it was really going to hurt..but Kissing HR’s girl friend was really really worth it.

By their very nature all religions are male dominated, cosy little clubs with little regard for female rights in particular.
Creationism....Give me a break!! Isn’t time to grow up and leave the fairies at the bottom of the garden behind. It ain't science never was never will be.

Recently a routine Police patrol car parked outside a local neighbourhood pub.
Late in the evening the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so intoxicated that he could barely walk.
The man stumbled around the car park for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity and trying his keys on five vehicles. The man managed to find his car, which he fell into. He was there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off (it was a fine dry night). Then flicked the indicators on, then off, tooted the horn and then switched on the lights.
He moved the vehicle forward a few cm, reversed a little and then remained stationary for a few more minutes as some more vehicles left.
At last he pulled out of the car park and started to drive slowly down the road.
The Police officer, having patiently waited all this time, now started up the patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and carried out a random breathalyser test.
To his amazement the breathalyser indicated no evidence of the man's intoxication.
The Police officer said "I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the Police station - this breathalyser equipment must be broken."
"I doubt it," said the man, "tonight I'm the designated decoy".

BUSHFIRES AND BURNOFFS
Now the worst of the Bushfires are hopefully over in Australia, the ugly and depressing task of counting the costs must begin.
One issue that is becoming apparent and is bound to create controversy is the role irresponsible but politically correct green policies played in the disaster.
“One of Australia's leading bushfire experts, Rod Incoll, warned Nillumbik Shire Council in a 2003 report that it risked devastation if it went ahead with changes to planning laws proposed by green groups that restricted the removal of vegetation”
They did go ahead with the new regulations and there was devastation, cause and effect..you be the judge?
Unfortunately, the real keepers of the knowledge required to live and work in bushfire prone rural Australia are usually too busy trying to earn a living to bother with the inanities required to run for things like local council positions. The end result is often the self seeking, soy bean swilling, sea (tree) change seeking morons end up driving land use policies in a bush setting that are in effect a ticking time bomb of destruction.
Of course, any farmer or station owner could have told you 20 years ago that regular burning off, vegetation control, establishment of dams and other water storage points was the price to be paid to live on the land in Australia. However, the blood tick like infestation of "inner rural" areas by rabid greens and “hobby” farmers in Australia of the past 20 years has seen bitterly learned lessons gathered over generations disregarded as pseudo environmentalists ride roughshod over hard learnt bush university wisdom.
The insanity of overzealous rstrictions on burning off and on the construction of dams has definitely played a significant role the wholesale destruction of vast swathes of Australia.
And yet they ask why the Stump tends to treat the rabid greens with contempt.

just cannot let go of the latest fantasty of the electric car as a viable option (option to what is transgender thing one suspects).. The Stump is sure this belief in fairys and electric cars is due to an ingestion of way too many mushrooms.
However to be fair, we sought out the lastest review of meanest, greeniest fanasty this month...
" (the) battery-powered Tesla sports car that I reviewed recently on Top Gear. Things didn’t go well. The company claimed it could run, even if driven briskly, for 200 miles, but after just a morning the battery power was down to 20%"
"Happily, the company had brought a second car along, so we switched to that. But after a while its motor began to overheat. And so, even though the first was not fully charged, we unplugged it — only to find that its brakes weren’t working properly. So then we had no cars."
" Tesla, when contacted by reporters, gave its account of what happened and it was exactly the same as ours. It explained that the brakes had stopped working because of a blown fuse and didn’t question at all our claim that the car would have run out of electricity after 55 miles."

Contrary to the belief of the raving leftists and welfare troughers governments do not make money they merely distribute other people’s earnings, someone, sometime, somewhere has to pay the piper. You keep sapping the ones generating the wealth, then one day the reality hits home there is no more and gee the country goes broke and gravy train stops.
This is exactly what has happened the world over, at one end you have the parasite mutant accountants and bank bosses playing games with money other people have earned with their sweat and tears and at the other end you have the serial unemployed with any number of the life-long professional students, greenies and lefties that plague any western, free nation like life sapping tapeworms squirming in orgasmic delight at their weekly free feed. Trouble is the ever shrinking pool of people actually creating real wealth have had a gutful (pun intended).

Increased First Home buyers grant to $25,000 (To which one mullet, complete with the three screaming kids hanging on the hip) stated on tv, “Now I can afford to purchase my own home because we did not have enough for the deposit before ”.... No you can’t plankton! If you cannot save the deposit, you sure as sh*T cannot afford a mortgage, perhaps some condoms might be a plan.
A multi-million dollar program on pushing a “Bill of Rights (You know, like Zimbabwe has) and religious tolerance (Would it not be cheaper just to issue one way tickets to Palestine for moronic, stone age Imams who declare uncovered women “pieces of meat” and it’s “ok for husbands to rape their wives”). Give them something real to whinge about.
Sling a gad zillion dollars into greenie dreaming pink insulation bats and direct cash for the no-hopers to spend on booze and computer games

Now anywhere did we hear of plan to create opportunities for those people and companies that actually create wealth. Perhaps an Ord River or Snowy Mountains Scheme, or perhaps new ports? Maybesomething as simple as changing all of Australia’s rail to the same gauge (jeez what a no brainer)? To All My Valued Employees,
There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company, and more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this: The economy doesn't pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job; however, is the changing political landscape in this country.
However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interests.
First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a back story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Subaru Outback outside. You've seen my big home at last year's Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealised thoughts about my life.
However, what you don't see is the back story.
I started this company 28 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 2 bedroom flat for 3 years. My entire living area was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.
My diet consisted of baked beans, stew and soup because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a wonky transmission. I didn't have time to go out with women. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business -- hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.
Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50,000 a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting the David Jones for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had.
So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Subaru, the vacations... you never realise the back story and the sacrifices I've made.
Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail-out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their pay suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for.
Yes, business ownership has its benefits but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds.
Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why:
I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire an accountant to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a cheque to the Australian tax Office for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my "stimulus" cheque was? Zero. Zip. Zilch.
The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business? Or, the single mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next welfare cheque? Obviously, government feels the latter is the economic stimulus of this country.
The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your pay you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts. Who wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree which is why your job is in jeopardy.
Here is what many of you don't understand .... to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had the government suddenly mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what? Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Canberra black-hole, I would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But you can forget it now.
When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the heart of Australia and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. But the power brokers in Canberra believe the poor of Australia are the essential drivers of the Australian economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep.
So where am I going with all this?
It's quite simple.
If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple. I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your 4WD and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more.
Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire. You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalises the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.
So, if you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of politicians that swept through this country and changed its financial landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about....

The Indonesian Virus?
It never ceases to amaze the Stump that even in the cosmopolitan (?) heart of Jakarta, the local populace has this filthy but seemingly irresistible need to share their latest virus with you, coughing all over fellow travellers and hawking up grab gobs of pus and flem in the street. Guys, it’s not exactly a mind bending concept to show some consideration to others!
Speaking of the spreading of viruses, the Stump and the female colleague were accosted in the Pondok Indah Mall (It’s an amusement to come and watch the Kaya Baru..Newly Rich flaunt themselves) when we were accosted by Indonesia’s version of the three witches.
Where are you from?
Where do you live?
Etc etc ..until our colleague was hit with the usual highly personal but inevitable ..
What religion are you?
Upon being told the answer followed the outrageous..
Why are you not wearing the Jilbab ??
To the Stump’s eternal pleasure and outright laughter..
Colleague replied
“Because I am an Indonesian with adat (customs/traditions) not an Arab Pembantu (Maid/Servant)”
Unfortunately any pretence of civil conversation kinda declined thereafter. Where the @@@@ do these morons get the idea they have right to pry and push into others lives??
Still, after recently reviewing an old picture book of traditional Jakarta and Indonesia, one can certainly see where the current virus has certainly ripped the heart from Indonesian traditional dress and mores and replaced it with the drab and colourless dress of distant and irrelevant desert tribes. Funny you would think the vibrancy of colours and traditions would have meant the smothering of a culture would have gone the other way but there you have it. I guess the question, is will the patient ever recover and reclaim her identity? Prognosis does not seem good.

On other matters, did anyone notice the safe return of the Maid from Palestine, who was not paid for five years and made to work in appalling conditions? Yet, a large section of the Indonesian population still honestly believes that these people consider them equals. Does the term “Untermensch” ring any bells people?

The Stump owes Desi Anwar and Jakartass a vote of thanks for adding yet another emotion evoked when the name Elvis is mentioned. Although in this case, the emotion is not one associated with Music but rather the need to burst out with a grand,gut wrenching belly laugh. Seems our local Elvis the plonker has decided that clocks lead to ruination of youth! Check this quote out.."Usually, around 300,000 people gather at the clock every New Year's Eve to witness the clock strike 12, marking the change of year. Youngsters express their happiness by hugging their mates, and even kissing"... Ah those fiends, those children of the corn!
As scary as it may be to get into the minds of dodos of this magnitude, one can only assume, Elvis the galah has decided the Clock Tower in Bukittinggi (High Hill?) Central Square was a ring leader in leading the local populace away from the ranting of the resident joy Nazis. Therefore, on New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day the clock face was draped in a monumental version of the Chadar.
Mmmm, the Stump wonders how far is from clock faces giving offence and the Taliban blowing up statues thousands of years old and world heritage listed. Certainly the debased logic (?) seems linked..It’s enough to make the original Elvis turn to drugs and binge eating! Brrr..It's cold now?
In spite of the highest concentrations of carbon dioxide in the history of civilization, world temperatures have failed to warm the past 10 years. Ocean heat content is falling. World ice concentrations (Arctic and Antarctic combined) are higher than normal.
The 2001 forecasts by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (cited by Al Gore) have failed to capture the recent cooling, as the above graph indicates, suggesting that the carbon dioxide-atmosphere connection is more complex than some initially believed. A small but growing number of scientists are becoming concerned about global cooling due to the current unusually low solar activity and other geophysical factors.

The Captain of a US Airlines plane saved the lives of 155 passengers when he managed a "perfect" water landing
on the Hudson river after his plane hit a flock of birds on take off.
"Crew interviews also confirmed reports of how the Sullenberger refused to leave his sinking plane until he was sure everyone was safe.
"He was very concerned with the count of the passengers,'' the flight crew told the NTSB, Higgins said.
"He wanted everyone accounted for. He returned to the plane a couple of times to check no one was there. The captain was the last off.''
Indonesian Ferry Captains and Crew (and other responsible for peoples safety) may wish to note the bold type above.
Speaking of the lastest ferry disaster, why isn't the Transport Minister under investigation for criminal neglect of duties? Did anyone in Indonesia believe the first reports made by transport ministry officials that the Ferry WAS safe and not overloaded? As usual, the poorly trained surviving crew will be jailed for a little while, the owners and governement will deny any responsibility and the useful idiots will protest about issues they barely understand on the other side of the world whilst their own countrymen are slaughtered on the alter of incompendence and greed.

THE VICTORIA CROSS is awarded for
“ ... most conspicuous bravery, or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, or extreme devotion to duty in the presence of the enemy"
"The Victoria Cross (VC) is the highest military decoration awarded for valour "in the face of the enemy" to members of the armed forces, It takes precedence over all other orders, decorations and medals. It may be awarded to a person of any rank in any service and civilians under military command."
In these days of self absorbed, feathered beded child-men, the Stump wonders how many of us would be found wanting when time comes..At least there is still room for us to admire the few:
"The first Australian soldier to be awarded the Victoria Cross in 40 years does not see himself as a hero.
Trooper Mark Donaldson, 29, says all soldiers are heroes.
The Special Air Service (SAS) soldier was presented the award for his rescue of a coalition forces interpreter from heavy fire in Oruzgan Province in Afghanistan in September.
He said the award was overwhelming and a great honour but it would not change who he was.
"I'm still Mark Donaldson, and we'll keep going from day to day and we'll see how we go," he told reporters after receiving the award on Friday.
"I don't see myself as a hero, honestly.
"I still see myself as a soldier first and foremost."
But Prime Minister Kevin Rudd begs to differ.
He said Trooper Donaldson had joined the list of Australian heroes.
"Generations of school children will now know of the story of Trooper Mark Donaldson," Mr Rudd said.
"It is a story of a hero, one which will be told in classrooms, workplaces and watering holes for many years to come."
"His feat under fire now becomes the stuff of Australian legend."
Trooper Donaldson, who is married and has one daughter, paid tribute to all Australian soldiers.
"Every single one of our soldiers that are there serving for the nation are heroes," he said.
The SAS soldier also became the first person to receive the Victoria Cross for Australia - the nation's highest military honour - established in 1991 to replace the Imperial VC awarded previously to 96 Australians since the Boer War in 1900.
Trooper Donaldson said he had not really thought about the danger when he went to rescue the stricken interpreter.
"I'm a soldier ... I'm trained to fight, that's what we do, it's instinct and it's natural and you don't really think about it at the time," he said.
"I just saw him there, I went over there and got him, that was it."
Trooper Donaldson said he understood the interpreter had made a full recovery.
He was touched to receive the medal, describing the ceremony as "quite emotional and quite overwhelming".
"It's very humbling and really makes you sit back and take a look at yourself."
Trooper Donaldson hopes to return to Afghanistan later this year.
He has not decided where to keep the medal, but "probably somewhere pretty safe".
Trooper Donaldson's wife says the hero has long been married to the army.
A beaming Emma Donaldson said she was proud of her husband.
"He was married to the army before he married me, and I support him all the way," she told reporters after the ceremony.
There were nervous moments being an army spouse, Ms Donaldson admitted.
"It has its moments, but I know what he's like as a person and I know the guys he works with and they train ridiculously hard all the time.
"So I have the utmost faith that they will all get back in some form or another."
When asked if she would tell her husband to be a little more careful on the battlefield in future, she laughed and said she couldn't ask that of him.
The couple, who live in Perth, have a young daughter Kaylee, who also attended Friday's ceremony.
The investiture at Government House, attended by Governor-General Quentin Bryce and the prime minister was told that on numerous occasions Trooper Donaldson deliberately drew enemy fire in order to allow wounded soldiers to be removed to safety.
"As the battle raged around him he saw that the coalition force interpreter was lying motionless on exposed ground," the governor-general's official secretary Stephen Brady told the gathering.
"With complete disregard for his own safety on his own initiative and alone, Trooper Donaldson ran back 80 metres across exposed ground to rescue the interpreter and carry him back to a vehicle.
"Trooper Donaldson then rejoined his patrol and then continued to engage the enemy while remaining exposed to heavy enemy fire."
Ms Bryce described Trooper Donaldson as an "inspiration".
"We gather around you to distinguish your actions, and to honour the individual they speak of, the person you are, your undertaking, your way of living," she said after the presentation.
"We are here to dedicate your contribution, your unconditional surrender to duty and humanity, your abandonment of your own necessity so that others may be secured."
"By your doing and knowing, you will shoulder more than most. You are the finest example and inspiration.
"Trooper Donaldson, VC, I salute you."
Defence force chief Angus Houston said Trooper Donaldson joined a band of brothers - only 10 VC winners are alive today - so admired for their valour.
"Victoria Cross recipients are at the very core of the ethos of which our military identity has been forged," Air Chief Marshal Houston said.
"We in the modern Australian Defence Force, strive to live up to the heroism, and the values of the Victoria Cross recipients that have gone before us."
In keeping with military protocol the air chief marshall saluted Trooper Donaldson.
"As the highest ranking member of the defence force, there has been no current serving member that I salute, until now," he said.
"Tradition holds that even the most senior officer will salute a Victoria Cross recipient as a mark of the utmost respect for their act of valour."
Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull said Trooper Donaldson stood in a great line of courageous soldiers who had won the Victoria Cross.
"You have been in the front line of the battle for freedom, the battle against terrorism, a battle we cannot lose and we will not lose because of brave men like you," he said.
"As the prime minister said, there is no greater honour than wearing the uniform you wear today, serving this nation, and that is why we thank you from the bottom of our heart."

The Stump was not aware that the missing member of the Village People, Warren Snowden (pictured) had been appointed Australia's Defence Minister. Still in line with Labor Party Tradition another human waste vessel appointed five levels beyond its ability.
In a classic display of pandering to the loons at the expense of real Australians, Warren (I wish I was on a pink Cruise)Snowden attacked one of Australia's Submarine Commanders for making the obvious trueism possible. Any wonder Australia has trouble recruiting people into the defence force when they are forced to deal with idiots and professional trough snouters like Snowden and Eva Cox.
What was the so-called evil transgression commited in fron to the alter of Political Correctness? The Honourable Commander (as opposed to the dishonourable Snowden) when asked asked by a men's magazine if "female sailors all had to be hot and had to wear bikinis, would that help recruitment?".
Commander Phillips is quoted as replying: "It would certainly get the right demographic of young men in. I'm not sure how feasible it is."

Feminists angered by bikini suggestions

Feminists are calling for action to be taken after an Australian Navy submarine commander suggested that women sailors in bikinis would help boost recruitment.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Commander Tom Phillips from the HMAS Farncomb was asked by a men's magazine if "female sailors all had to be hot and had to wear bikinis, would that help recruitment?".
Commander Phillips is quoted as replying: "It would certainly get the right demographic of young men in. I'm not sure how feasible it is."
Defence Minister Warren Snowden said the comments were "utterly unacceptable".
Chair of the Women's Lobby Australia, Eva Cox, said the comments reflected the "Navy's limited view of women as bodies rather than brains", the Telegraph reported.
The Stump suggests perhaps Eva Cox (nagh that's too easy) might be better squandering the taxpayers dollar with comments on things such as
Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric was quoted on Wednesday as saying it is permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry and those who think they're too young are doing the girls an injustice.
Sheik Abdul-Aziz Al Sheikh, the country's grand mufti, said during a lecture on Monday that those who say women should not marry before the age of 25 are following a "bad path," according to the pan-Arab Al-Hayat newspaper.
Al Sheikh's comments come at a time when Saudi human rights groups have been pushing the government to put an end to marriages involving the very young and to define a minimum age for marriage. In the past few months, Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or very young boys.
On Sunday, the government-run Human Rights Commission condemned marriages of minor girls, saying such marriages are an "inhumane violation" and rob children of their rights.
The commission's statement followed a ruling by a court in Oneiza in central Saudi Arabia last month that dismissed a divorce petition by the mother of an eight-year-old girl whose father married her off to a man in his 50s.
Newspaper reports said the court argued that the mother did not have the right to file such a case on behalf of her daughter and said that the petition should be filed by the girl when she reaches puberty.
Responding to a question about parents who force their underage daughters to marry, the mufti said: "We hear a lot about the marriage of underage girls in the media, and we should know that Islamic law has not brought injustice to women."
"For it to be said that it's not permitted to marry off girls who are 15 and younger is wrong," Al Sheikh was quoted as saying. "A female who is 10 or 12 is marriageable and those who think she's too young are wrong and are being unfair to her."
The mufti said a good upbringing will make a girl capable of carrying out her duties as a wife.
"Our mothers and before them our grandmothers married when they were barely 12," said Al Sheikh, according to Al-Hayat.
There are no statistics to show how many marriages involving children are performed in Saudi Arabia every year. And it's also not clear whether these unions are on the rise or whether people are hearing about them more now because of the prevalence of media outlets and easy access to the internet.
Activists say the girls are given away in return for hefty dowries or as a result of long-standing custom in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.

Israel and Dogs
The Stump doesn't believe there will ever be any solution to the problems in the Middle East. Too many religious lunatics in direct communication with GOD. Which is never ever a good thing, too little education and too many murderous religious thugs to profit by the continuing pain of others
The Stump is bemused but not surprised at the bizarre support for HAMAS (as opposed to the Palestine people)from the Muslim World. In it's simplest form...
If you are going to throw rocks at a big nasty dog, who you know is going chase you into your own back yard and bite a bloody great chunk of flesh out of your arse. Then if you care just a little bit about your women and children (rather than as human stakes in a poker game) you would make sure they are safe and out of reach of the dog BEFORE you poke the beast.
No matter what you may think of Israel, they are a very predictable nation and for HAMAS to claim no responsibility for the death and mayhem after poking the eye of the dog is a global bloody wank!
This weeks bloody brain perversion....
How come the miserable excuses for humanity below are not getting equal protest time with Israel???
Back once again to the Useful Idiots and their adherance to the Some Muslims are more equal than others doctrine.

A day after a suicide bomber killed at least 16 people, including 13 schoolchildren, in a region bordering Pakistan, a new rash of bombings shook different areas of Afghanistan on Monday, killing two civilians north of Kabul and two more in Kandahar Province.
Men inspected the wreckage of a suicide car bomb on Sunday in Khost Province, Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bomb, which was detonated next to a school.
Several Afghan provinces have been centers of violence.
The explosion on Sunday detonated outside a local government compound in Khost Province and wounded 53, local government officials and coalition forces said. The bombing, near the border with Pakistan, occurred next to a school, and many children were among the wounded.
The Taliban fighters claimed responsibility for the attack.
Coalition forces provided a video showing about 15 children walking on the street as they were engulfed by a ball of fire. Mark Larter, a spokesman for the coalition forces, said the death toll also was based on reports of troops at the scene. Two police officers were among the dead.

The citizens of the Stump have just returned from a short break from reality (or was that to reality) looks forward to annoying you all again this year.
Indonesia and the world has kicked off in its usual insane way ….
The Bakrie boys have risen from the ashes (or mud) as can only happen in Indonesia proving once again that doing business in Indonesia is like walking through a hall of mirrors.
Two teachers in Aceh were arrested for inviting some Muslim Students to their homes to celebrate Christmas in the fine tradition of religious tolerance and understanding so oft touted by the powers that be.
The Indonesia reputation for interesting court room decisions was once again on display with the news that an Indonesian court has acquitted a former spy of charges that he murdered Munir Thalib, an outspoken critic of the country's military, by poisoning him with arsenic while on a flight to Europe.
Meanwhile on the international front, the grand Obama experiment has developed feet of clay with the news that his previously held senate seat was up for sale as is the procedure for (apparently)the murky world of Chicago politics. The Stump looks forward to hefty belly laughs as the world's media tries to excuse their armchair ride to power they provided as more of the story comes to light.
The Middle East has erupted into violence again with HAMAS and Israel ensuring as many people as possible experience maximum suffering to start off the New Year. Indonesia’s own Islamic Fringe Groups (The Islamic Version of Lenin’s “Useful Idiots”) have been generally calling for further bloodshed and mayhem proving once again that passion and ignorance make such fine bed fellows.
Gunna be an interesting year..

INDONESIAN CHRISTMAS
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL
Enjoying a rowdy Christmas with loved ones (although as regular readers would know it's sans any overly religious overtones unless you call the festive tree an Idol).
It is timely for the Stump to acknowledge the quiet courage and faith of Christians in Indonesia. The stump always feels a good deal of admiration for the christians, particularly the women who quietly declare their faith by wearing the cross around their necks in form of a usually simple necklace.
Despite the fact, wearing of the necklace exposes those women to harrassment by the ignorant they continue to do so and remain high in the Stump's list of people to respect.

INFANT DIES - WHO CARES?
